The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development holds a workshop to discuss the National Skills Strategy.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, represented by the Skills and Training Agency, held a workshop to discuss the National Skills Strategy. The workshop was attended by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor, Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abu Thunain, along with several ministry officials from the labor sector and experts from the Kingdom and the Republic of Singapore.

The workshop was inaugurated by His Excellency the Deputy Minister for Labor, who emphasized the support of the wise leadership in enhancing the skills of the workforce in the Kingdom in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He highlighted the importance of such workshops in building an integrated system that enables the development of workforce skills in the Kingdom, ensuring their alignment with the needs of the labor market, national aspirations, and global trends.

On his part, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Zahrani, the Deputy of Skills and Training, clarified that the ministry has been working on formulating the National Skills Strategy since 2020 in collaboration with the World Bank, the International Labour Organization, and local and international experts. He emphasized the importance of gathering input from relevant stakeholders and defining the strategic direction.

The workshop included a review of the first draft of the National Skills Strategy and sought the opinions of the participants through individual and group interactions using technical channels and analytical activities of working teams to build a roadmap for implementing the strategy over the next five years.

It is worth mentioning that the ministry continues its efforts to enhance the productivity of the labor market through the development of workforce skills and improving their quality. This is achieved through a number of transformative initiatives launched by the Skills and Training Agency, including the establishment of sectoral councils, the development of national professional standards, and the private sector incentive program.
