His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, praised the integration of national efforts in combating human trafficking crimes. He emphasized that the Kingdom has given this issue utmost importance through a legislative and executive system based on the principles of Islamic Sharia, aligned with international standards, and aimed at protecting human, preserving their dignity, and ensuring a fair and safe work environment.
On the occasion of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, His Excellency stated that this crime is one of the most serious violations of human rights, and it requires a comprehensive institutional response. Starting with prevention, passing through protection, and ending with accountability.
He pointed out that the Ministry has adopted a range of policies and programs to combat human trafficking, most notably the adoption of “the National Policy to Eliminate Forced Labor”, which stands as the first policy of its kind at the level of Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This policy aims to eradicate the most prominent forms of trafficking by promoting decent working conditions, empowering groups most vulnerable to exploitation, and providing a regulatory environment that ensures fairness and non-discrimination.
His Excellency further explained that the Ministry is working on developing reporting and monitoring mechanisms, expanding the scope of proactive inspections, and implement national awareness campaigns on workers’ rights and employers’ responsibilities. In addition, the Ministry provides legal, psychological, and social support to potential victims. He notes that during the first quarter of 2025 AD, the Ministry conducted more than 61,500 field inspections and received 124 reports, reflecting the effectiveness of its monitoring and response systems.
