The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Sport, convened the inaugural meeting of the Sector Skills Council for Sports Sector, attended by Ms. Iman Al Yami, Secretary-General of the Sector Skills Councils, and Dr. Mezna Al-Marzooqi, Director General of the Leaders Development Institute at the Ministry of Sport and Chair of the Sector Skills Council for Sports Sector. The meeting also brought together leaders from government entities, private-sector representatives, and a number of senior officials and experts.

The meeting highlighted the importance of integrated roled between government entities and the private sector, identifying priorities for human capital development, and reviewing the Council’s work plan and strategic initiatives for the 2026–2027 term. These initiatives focus on developing career pathways and identifying priority skills required within the sports sector.

The Secretary General of Sector Skills Council explained that the Sports Sector Council is working on reviewing and developing professional standards and enhancing the effectiveness of education and training programs, thereby supporting the development of national cadres in the sports sector capable of keeping pace with future developments.

The Council’s membership includes several prominent entities, including the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the World Cup 2034 Hosting Higher Authority o, as well as sports companies, national federations, and relevant government entities. This broad representation strengthens collaboration among stakeholders and supports decision-making.

These efforts form part of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development’s objectives to advance the national skills ecosystem through the Sector Skills Councils. The initiative contributes to aligning education and training outcomes with the needs of key economic sectors and labor market requirements.
