His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abuthnain, Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor, His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Human Resources headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the 6th Session of the Islamic Conference of Labor Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Doha from October 15-16, 2025, with the participation of ministers and officials from member countries.
The conference discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Islamic countries in the fields of labor, employment, and social protection.The conference addressed the most prominent challenges in labor markets, exploring innovative solutions to promote sustainable development and effective employment.
In his speech, His Excellency Dr. Abuthnain addressed the recent developments in the Saudi labor market following the implementation of the Labor Market Strategy, which included several programs and initiatives based on the principles of preventive justice to guarantee rights and achieve fairness and compliance.
His Excellency also reviewed the most prominent national initiatives, including the National Occupational Safety and Health Policy in collaboration with the International Labor Organization, as well as the Contract Documentation Initiative, which has contributed to documenting over 12 million employment contracts electronically, this is in addition to new insurance products have been introduced to protect the financial rights of workers, including converting the documented employment contract into an enforceable electronic document to ensure justice between the parties to the contractual relationship.
During the participation, a meeting was held with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Labor Ministers and their representatives, in the presence of the Executive Office of Labor Ministers.On the sidelines of the participation, Dr. Dr. Abuthnain also held bilateral meetings with the Indonesian Minister of Manpower, Professor Yassierli,the Azerbaijani Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Anar Aliyev,the Jordanian Minister of Labor, Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar, and the Egyptian Minister of Labor, Mohamed Gobran, to discuss topics of mutual interest.
