MLSD instructs a company to pay overdue salaries to 450 workers in Unaizah
The Ministry of Labor and Social Development’s branch in Unaizah instructed a cleaning and maintenance company to release late paychecks to 450 male and female workers.
After the labor inspection team was dispatched to the company’s premises, they tracked down a number of violations other than salary delay.
Hamad Al-Jahil, director of the labor office in Unaizah, said the office received a complaint from a host of workers on strike saying they had not received their salaries on time.
The inspectors called upon a representative of workers and the company’s official to look into the case with both parties in presence, added Al-Jahil.
They found the workers’ reluctance to work was due to the fact that the company withheld their monthly salaries. The company was forced to deliver long-overdue pays to workers who returned to work shortly after, Al-Jahil said further.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Al-Wateed, director-general of the ministry’s branch in the Al-Qassim Region, said the MLSD warned the private firms of not delaying workers’ salaries, pointing out it is in violation of the Labor Law as well as imposing sanctions on those who violate these regulations.
