In the presence of Prince Sultan bin Salman, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, the Kingdom celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Engineer Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, today sponsored the celebration of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on the 3rd of December every year, with the participation of a number of persons with disabilities and their families.

His Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman highlighted in a speech on this occasion the unlimited support that persons with disabilities in the Kingdom receive from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense – may God protect them. He praised their attention to the issue of disability, the promotion and provision of means of prevention, care, and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities, enabling them to exercise their rights at all levels, and fully engaging and integrating them into all aspects of life. He reviewed the history of government and societal support for the field of disability in the Kingdom, contributing to the achievement of national goals and serving disability issues.

His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development highlighted the ministry's efforts in supporting and empowering persons with disabilities in collaboration with societal institutions. He commended the wise leadership's support in enhancing these efforts, clarifying that the ministry provides its services to over 800,000 persons with disabilities in various regions of the Kingdom. Additionally, it facilitates their access to specialized services.

The event witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the ministry and the King Salman Center for Disability Research, aiming to collaborate in the fields of research, studies, training, and sustainable national programs related to disabilities. The ceremony included a presentation of services provided by several government entities to persons with disabilities. The attendees also discussed the Disability Rights System, which aims to ensure their fundamental rights. Furthermore, there were dialogues and workshops, and recognition was given to various government and private entities that contributed to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities in the year 2023.
