To protect the rights of parties in the employment relationship, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has launched the “Insurance of domestic labor contracts” for new domestic workers for the first time through the Musaned platform. Starting from February 1, 2024, the insurance service for the employment contracts of domestic workers for the first two years of the contract will be included in the procedures for employers to contract with recruitment offices or companies. The insurance can be extended after two years, based on the employer's choice. The service is currently available to Musaned clients, as the ministry had previously introduced it as an option for its clients since the beginning of 2023. The service has reached more than (175) thousand customers. The service has received positive feedback from clients and contractual parties.

The Insurance Service allows compensation for the employer and the domestic worker in various cases, starting from the date the domestic worker begins working. The insurance service for domestic workers' employment contracts contributes to achieving several benefits for the employer, such as compensation for recruitment expenses in case of the worker's absence, escape, death, or the worker's inability to work or suffering from chronic diseases that hinder their ability to perform their duties. It also includes compensation for the expenses of repatriating the worker's body, belongings, and personal property in case of the domestic worker's death. The service ensures the preservation of the domestic worker's rights, such as compensating the worker in case of permanent total disability or permanent partial disability resulting from an accident (God forbid), and compensating the worker in case the employer fails to pay salaries and financial dues due to the employer's death, permanent total disability, or permanent partial disability (God forbid).

The insurance service for domestic workers' employment contracts aligns with the Ministry's efforts to develop the recruitment sector and protect the rights of domestic workers and employers. The Ministry previously launched the Wage Protection System for domestic workers to preserve their wage rights in the Kingdom. The Unified Contract Program for domestic workers' recruitment mandates a unified contract binding both parties, preserving contractual rights, and specifying obligations for both parties. In addition to setting a maximum limit for the recruitment of domestic workers for a number of countries, several joint agreements.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has established the "Musaned" platform as one of the initiatives to develop the recruitment sector in the Kingdom. The platform provides various services to enhance and facilitate the recruitment process, as well as to address complaints and disputes that may arise between contracting parties, in addition to ensuring their rights.
