The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing a rapid expansion in the adoption of social responsibility concepts as one of the pathways supporting sustainable development and strengthening partnerships among the governmental, private, and non-profit sectors. This comes within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, which has placed increasing emphasis on this field as an enabler of economic and social development, and as a channel that enhances the private sector’s contribution to serving society, the environment, and the economy.

In this context, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development is leading regulatory and development efforts to strengthen the social responsibility system in the Kingdom by developing regulatory frameworks and national initiatives that help embed institutional practices of social responsibility and enhance the role of companies and institutions as development partners in achieving sustainable development.

International and local indicators reflect the development of the Kingdom’s experience in the field of social responsibility, as it ranked 16th globally in the Social Responsibility Index according to the 2024 World Competitiveness Report. The number of companies registered on the Ministry’s National Social Responsibility Platform exceeded 2,145 companies, while the total value of social responsibility initiatives surpassed 5 billion riyals. This reflects the expanding scope of community initiatives and the growing contribution of the private sector to supporting development projects.

The National Social Responsibility Platform contributes to strengthening and empowering the private sector and consolidating its position as a leading global model in this field. The platform serves as a strategic meeting point where the roles of the three sectors—public, private, and non-profit—are integrated, with the aim of enabling companies to create tangible developmental impact by directing their initiatives toward national priorities, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The platform operates according to a clear methodology based on a set of strategic pillars, beginning with spreading and promoting a culture of social responsibility within the business sector, and enabling companies to build sustainable strategic partnerships with cumulative impact, while working to organize and consolidate their efforts and direct their contributions toward development projects of the highest priority.

The percentage of large companies adopting social responsibility programs has risen to 72%, reflecting the growing institutional awareness of the importance of social responsibility and its transformation into an integral part of corporate practices, thereby contributing to supporting community initiatives and enhancing economic and social development.
