What is the purpose of freedom of information?

Freedom of information aims to enable private entities or individuals to obtain available public information from public authorities in pursuit of enhancing the principle of transparency and integrity.

What is meant by public information?

It is the public data and information - unprotected - produced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, regardless of its source, form, or nature.

What is the mechanism for submitting a request to obtain information?

Requests are submitted electronically by filling out the information request form available on the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development website.

How long does it take to respond to an information request?

If the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development approves the request, the applicant will be notified of full or partial approval of the request, and the request will be implemented within a timeframe not exceeding (10) working days from the date of receiving the request acceptance. If this is not possible due to the large volume of requested information or for other reasons, an acceptance and extension notice will be sent at the same time, not exceeding 30 days, explaining the reason for the extension and the expected date for implementing the request.

Is the applicant notified if their request is rejected?

If the request to access or obtain information is rejected, the applicant is notified electronically, and the response includes the following information:

  1. Specifying whether the rejection of the request is total or partial.
  2.  Reasons for rejection, if possible.
  3. The right to appeal this rejection and how to submit it.

Can an appeal be submitted against the decision to reject the request?

Yes, if an individual wishes to submit an appeal against the decision to reject the request, he can submit a written or electronic appeal notice within a period not exceeding (10) working days from the date of receiving the Ministry's decision.

What are the alternative ways to obtain information?

To enhance the principle of transparency and the right to access public information, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development makes specific sets of information available as open data before requesting them, on the Open Data Platform.
